These were a request for buttons for a formal jacket, for someone who really tkaes the crow as his crest.
The original plan was to make them out of pewter, but my first attempts didn’t work out so great, so back to the trusty laser cutter to make some wood ones. These ones got a brass inlay by laser engraving out a socket, filling it with brass powder and adding superglue to keep it together (and sanding. lots and lots of sanding.)
The wood is wallnut, but it gets the black colour from being being ebonised, which worked really well and only needed things I had lying around the house anyway.
