Unicorn Lamp

Artwork by Kaitlyn Parker, from her design meditations series. You can see the original on her site.

Using the same technique as the berlin mirror, it’s a mirror engraved on the fablab laser to remove parts of the mirrored finish from the back, leaving transparent gaps wherever the original pen was drawn. Add a laser cut finger joint box, some leds and an extra sheet of light diffusing acrylic and it looks pretty awesome.

Berlin mirror

Artwork by Kaitlyn Parker, from her design meditations series.

It’s a mirror, engraved on the fablab laser to remove parts of the mirrored finish from the back, leaving a transparent gap. Then I just painted the back to fill in those gaps and glued on an mdf board to protect it and it’d done!

A couple of wall decorations, both are prototypes for later larger pieces.

The artwork for the rabbit is by Jazz Meyer and as usual, both were made at Fablab Berlin.

Stained glass window lamp

This was inspired by an existing project by pohhoushun from instructibles. I liked the idea, but wanted to make the light up section to look more like a real stained glass window, so I printed out the stained glass pattern on overhead projector paper so when light shines through it, it looks like a mini stained glass window.

The window  is based on St Mary’s church in Cheltenham, UK, although I had to change a few bits to make it work.

There’s also a flower of life version using the same idea in the gallery:

Ban Hammer

One of those projects that exists just because it could- a Ban Hammer!

I have a friend who is a game master for an online game and must frequently dispense administrative judgement on swearing 14 year olds, this hammer will assist her in her quest:

Smite the wicket, chastise the unjust, open wallnuts

The artwork was by Mina Liang, if you like her style and like her doodling, she does commissions, so poke her with a stick.

Iris jewellery boxes

These were based on an existing project by Ernesto_realize from instructibles, so most of the credit goes to him! I just fancied them up a bit :-) If you want to make your own, the files are on his indestructible and are really easy to follow.

Glow in the dark door sign

At nighttime, I can never figure out which door is my flat, so I made a glow in the dark thing. It doesn’t work very well and looks crappy up close, but it’s the first time I’ve used this glow in the dark stuff!

Money Stash keyring

So my friend needed somewhere to store medical records in case she goes to hospital, but didn’t really like the standard stainless steel medi-alter bracelets and asked me to make something fancier. A load of lasering and about 7 prototypes later, here’s what I came up with:
